Literature Text

My feet led me to the edge of town. I wasn't worried about the invitations now since Mr. Lodi's kids were probably running around screaming about it. As I got further away the denser the trees and plants became. I carefully followed the wide but faint path to the wall which surrounded the town. After a long while, a Rattata suddenly scampered past me. I jumped back and froze. I could hear faint rustling from beyond. Then I continued my journey. It was very quiet in these parts. Even the town's chatter couldn't be heard from here, like they could never hear me.
After several hours, my feet stopped before the wall. It was very tall and casted a shadow over the town at times, but we were used to that. There was no gate or door to the outside world. My mom said that it was to prevent our people from unwanted guests. However, there is a secret passage which leads outside.
I sat down cross-legged and leaned against the wall. I let my arm rest knee. Then I watched as the natural life began to unfold again. I closed my eyes and began to relaxed. As the minutes ticked by, I became a little bored, so I took out the invitation list from my pocket and unfolded it. All it contained were the handwritten names of everyone. Then my eyes settled onto the last words at the very end of the paper. It was obviously rushed and a little smudged.
Don't forget the basement.
I assumed that there were some party supplies down there, and Mom did said to read everything carefully. I stood up and wiped some dirt off my dark jeans and wandered back to town.
It was now in the early evening but the town was bathed in shadows because of the wall. Frustrating, the people in charge thought that public lights are bad for the environment. Nonetheless, many dark figures strolled about, minding their own business. I hurried back home to avoid someone striking up a conversation with me.
"Hey Leaf!" I heard a kid behind me shout. He sounded very familiar. I ignored him. His footsteps rapidly grew closer.
"Hey!" This time he grabbed my arm. "What's up bro? I knew it was you 'cause of that visor you always wear."
"I'm busy Tinder. Could you please let me go?" I pulled away and felt annoyed. Tinder could be so talkative and positive sometimes. "I'm going to get things ready for the party."
"Oh! I've heard all 'bout that! Early congrats to you!"
"Thanks bro. See ya later." I gave him a small smile that I know he would sense and walked away. I didn't have much time left of the day for socializing, I had a job to do. Anyways, I used up my spare time in the forest.
Eventually I reached my home. It now had white pole tents set up and the silhouettes of fold-able tables set out in the front yard. I walked to the door and found it unlocked. Mom, like everyone else, had lots of trust in each other so they do things such as leaving their doors unlocked or leaving things outside. The only reason we even have locks is for an emergency lock down.
But I had always kept the door locked when Mom was not home.
I had always kept things to myself and it comforted me that nobody could come in my home uninvited.
It's just who I am.
The kitchen was dark and absent of people. Everything was organized as it should be.
At this point the moon was rising, casting a blue-ish glow into the room. I forgot it was high moon today. It happened every month.
The atmosphere was a bit unsettling, so I groped around for the lights and then closed the door securely. I checked up on my mom to hear her snoring softly. It was like she never even moved from the living room.
I looked to the basement door.
I still didn't complete my job and regretted wasting my time.
I should really put more effort into these things....
....just not at night.
Chapter 2: The Wall
(That glorious, magnificent, Trump wall. Jk.)
Please do not use this photo, I had put much effort into photoshopping it.
This picture shows what the wall, where Leaf leaned against, looked like.
Until I get some inspiration to draw my own pictures, it will be up there for the time being.
